Andrew Collins is a part of the musical firmament. He’s the mercurial, five-time JUNO-nominated, seven-time Canadian Folk Music Award winning mando-maestro behind two of Canada’s top-billed string bands – The Foggy Hogtown Boys and the Creaking Tree String Quartet. Together with fellow members of his Andrew Collins Trio – string guru Mike Mezzatesta and in-the-pocket bassist James McEleney – they are delivering the goods at a special live filming of their And It Was Good concert.

They’re joined on disc and stage by the top drawer Phantasmagoria String Quartet comprised of Andrew’s long time musical co-conspirator John Showman (Foggy Hogtown Boys, CTSQ, New Country Rehab), Trent Freeman, Ben Plotnick and Eric Wright (of the newly JUNO nominated The Fretless.)

Showcasing a popular collision of bluegrass, folk, jazz, swing, and classical, not to mention dizzying instrumental prowess on stage, Collins and Co. appear to live by the old adage, “Idle hands are the devil’s workshop”, likely keeping him just ahead of the devil’s grasp.
