 Embrace presents Keaton Henson
Tuesday, January 17, 2017
in The Great Hall’s Main Hall

If you haven’t heard about Keaton Henson, that’s partly because the reclusive singer and illustrator, who struggles with anxiety, has toured only sporadically. But this London folk rock musician, poet and visual artist with a distinctive voice has still found plenty to say.

In addition to performing in churches, museums and intimate house shows, like his upcoming date at The Great Hall in Toronto, Henson has released albums composed of “bedroom classical” compositions and electronic music; he’s staged an immersive DIY production of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and scored a film. Henson has also developed into a renowned visual artist, and recently published a collection of poetry titled Idiot Verse. His latest album, Kindly Now, represents a return to the chamber-pop ballads that defined 2013’s Birthdays.

Like an open letter to his past self, Henson’s music acknowledges struggle, depression and heartbreak, while reminding himself, and his legions of dedicated fans, that, in art and life, we all have the capacity to forge ahead, evolve and simply let the past go.

Listen to Keaton Henson’s “Alright” here.
