According to the World Economic Forum, the existing global gender gap won’t close until 2186 (quick math— that’s in 169 years). That timeline really doesn’t work, does it. So, in honour of International Women’s Day 2017, Nordest Studio is bringing together a cross-section of female artists, creators, entrepreneurs, and thinkers for an evening of panel discussions and live performances with disruptive women.
The #MakeSpace mission is for women to share their experiences, inspire one another, show support, engage in dialogue and ask questions.
This evening’s themes will highlight:
- Art & entrepreneurship
- Career development
- Wins, losses & practical advice
- Feminism & community
- Sexuality, body image & more
Speakers at #MakeSpace include:
- Jully Black, JUNO Award-winning artist
- Laurel Sprengelmeyer, Little Scream vocalist
- Marika Shaw, Plus 1 CEO & musician
- Cazhhmere, acclaimed music video director
- Jennifer Sookdeo, production/ event manager
- Nana aba Duncan, CBC Radio 2 Top 20 host & producer
If you are unwilling to wait 169 years for the gender gap to close and if you’re determined to change stats like this one, then please join us! This event is an inclusive space that is open to all gender identities. #Make Space
